I can’t think of anything else I’d rather do than work with kids. I love their energy, their ever-changing interests, the excitement and curiosity they exhibit, and their spontaneous, genuine smiles.
As a mother, I understand that families have specific expectations and concerns and strive to understand each family’s unique needs. What is best for the child is always at the forefront of my thoughts. We treat families the way we would like to be treated and care for the children as we would our own: with compassion, patience, and respect for who they are now and who they will become.
As your child’s first experience with a dentist, I understand how vital it is to make a positive first impression. My goal is to make a dental appointment comfortable, engaging, and yes, even fun, so your child will have good memories to carry with them into adulthood.
Education and Experience
I grew up in London, in the United Kingdom, and knew from a young age that I wanted to work in the medical field. I liked working with my hands and loved working with kids, so pediatric dentistry seemed like the ideal career path. Having practiced for more than 30 years, I have no doubt I made the right choice!
I graduated as a Dental Surgeon from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland in 1988. After moving to the United States, I completed my Pediatric Dental Residency and Master’s degree in Oral Biology at the University of California, San Francisco, in 1998.
In addition to being a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, I am a member of the:
- American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry
- California Society of Pediatric Dentistry
- American Dental Association
- California Dental Association
- San Mateo County Dental Society
Dentistry is constantly evolving and treatment methods and materials are advancing. It is my responsibility to stay current with the latest research, technologies, and trends in order to provide patients with the highest quality, evidence-based care.
In addition to keeping up with the newest dental options, I also seek out developments in behavioral management techniques. Implementing these new approaches helps me keep children at ease and invested in their own health.
Beyond the Office
I live in Belmont with my husband and twins. As a family, we love to travel, whether we’re exploring new and exciting places or simply connecting with extended family. Closer to home, I enjoy long walks with good friends, watching British comedies, and cheering for all the bakers in the GBBO tent!
I also enjoy being part of and giving back to our community. I’ve been a community leader with 4H and help with the Save the Music festival for the Belmont Redwood Shores School District, in addition to participating in the Candy Buy Back project for the San Carlos and Belmont Redwood Shores School Districts.
